Matthew Bourne does not settle for the ordinary.Where other designers may have made compromises, altering particular features so as to make the lives of the dancers easier (or to save on costs) it seems that each of Bourne’s ballet productions are the closest possible representaion of his remarkable imagination - meaning that in my particular favourite ‘Edward Scissorhands’, the lead is forced leap across the floor weightlessly and hold graceful poise despite his burden of nine inch blades on every finger.
